U16 COUNTY CHAMPIONS 2009!!
Well done to the under 16 team on winning the county championship after a very impressive display in the Final against Newcestown on Tuesday night in Cloughduv
Blackrock were lucky to have a great goal-keeper in Carol Ryan who made several very good saves throughout the game. She was helped by some great defending by Amy Batt and Katelyn Hickey who dominated at centre back. Aine Kearney and Grace Marum worked very hard in the middle of the field sending in plenty ball to our forward line. Michelle Murphy and Mollie Hurley caused havoc all night, finishing with 5-4 between them, they were supported by Lorna Twomey who made some great runs and set up several scores
Over all it was an outstanding all-round performance by a very young team.
After the match Captain Sarah Hennessy received the Cup on behalf of her team mates.
Full-Forward Michelle Murphy was named as the 'Player of the Match' and was presented with a special Trophy after the game.
